Area Info
Bath is a city in the ceremonial county of Somerset in the south west of England. It was granted city status by Royal Charter by Queen Elizabeth I in 1590,
Bath became popular as a spa resort during the Georgian era, which led to a major expansion that left a heritage of exemplary Georgian architecture crafted from Bath Stone.
The City of Bath was inscribed as a World Heritage Site in 1987. The city has a variety of theatres, museums, and other cultural and sporting venues, which have helped to make it a major centre for tourism. The city has two universities and several schools and colleges.
The Bus and main Railway Stations are situated Close to Southgate. The Orange 'Bendy Bus' serves both Universities so properties on this bus route are popular with students.
The Royal United Hospital is situated in Weston and so accommodation is always required for hospital staff. Weston is a very popular village with good amenities on its high street giving good access to the M4 and local schools. Housing is varied allowing accommodation for all.
Our office is based in Combe Down, one of the most sought after villages in Bath.
Combe Down is an historic village with a mixture of grand Georgian architecture, Victorian cottages along with an assortment of modern executive style homes.
Local amenities are plentiful within a short flat walk, because unlike most of Bath nearly the whole of Combe Down is on the flat. The large Firs Field provides an excellent area for ball games, children’s play area and dog walking but if you like to take a longer walk then a short walk to Rainbow Woods just off the main road leads to fields, woodland and onto the Bath Skyline. If you prefer you can stroll down Summer Lane to Monkton Combe and enjoy its wonderful scenery.
Other areas of note on the southern slopes of Bath:
Bear Flat with Poets corner owing to all the road names being after notable poets. The houses are mainly larger 3 bedroom Victorian terraces very popular with families giving access to schools and the city centre plus the local shops at Bear Flat itself.
Bathwick and Widcombe set on the edge of the city with a mixture of large and smaller terraced houses.
Odd Down provides a mixture of more affordable housing, suitable for young families and first time buyers.
Oldfield Park is a large estate of Victorian terraced houses very popular with first time buyers and investors for student housing although amongst these there are some larger houses for the bigger families.
South Stoke, Midford, Hinton Charterhouse, Norton St Philip, Timsbury, High Littleton, Freshford, Limpley Stoke, and Shoscombe are all rural villages set approximately 5 to 10 miles outside the city centre providing country living but within commuter distance of schools and the City.
Peasedown St John: an old rural village about 6 miles outside Bath, with the edition of a large modern private estate ranging from 2 to 5 bed. Much liked by families as it provides good affordable accommodation within commuting distance of the city centre.
